Match and Team Selection

Matches and Team Selections

  • All full members have the opportunity to play for the club in inter-club friendly and league matches. A small match fee generally applies.
  • The dress code will be indicated on the Match Selection sheet.
  • Members are expected to wear their club shirt in matches.
  • The fixture list for the season is included in the club handbook and on this website. However, it is important to check club notice boards as their can be changes to selections and matches – often at the last minute.
  • Team Selection: Match fixtures are publicised well in advance. Match sheets are put on the notice board in the clubhouse for members to enter their names when available to play. Lists of members selected to play in matches are then posted on the notice board and you are asked to tick your name as confirmation that you can still play. Anyone unable to play after being selected must inform the named captain of the day as soon as possible.4
  • After a match it is traditional to buy your opposite number a drink from the bar.
  • As at other clubs, there is usually a raffle after a home friendly match with the proceeds going to club funds. Members are encouraged to bring a prize for home matches.

Dress Code: Weekend friendly matches are usually played in ‘whites’, but ‘greys’ apply for some. League matches are played in greys. The code is always shown on the team selection sheet as well as in this handbook. Club shirts are worn for all matches. Shoes with flat soles must be worn on the green.

Friendlies: These are pleasant occasions which provide the opportunity to improve your skills and to socialise with fellow bowlers. Mixed matches generally take place on Saturdays and/or Sundays. There will be a mixture of home and away games.
